Today we are interviewing an Chinese who has lived in Southeast Asia for 13 years. Walking into Ma Yanqiang, let's listen to his story together.
Ma Yanqiang: Arabic is one of the most difficult languages in the world, like the recognized language of our Chinese, Chinese is the most difficult language in the world to learn, in fact, Arabic is also the most difficult language in the world to learn, its grammar, lexical are quite difficult. It basically has 14 variations of a word, for example, if you say to everyone in different tenses, different situations, different objects, the word will change a lot, so it is very difficult to learn under the Arabic system. Not only language, Arabic it is based on Islamic culture, like our Islamic Quran, it is written in Arabic, so the prerequisite for understanding this language, but also to understand Islamic culture, including Islamic religious beliefs, must have a certain degree of understanding, in order to learn Arabic. For example, when we Muslims meet, they say "hello" in the Arab countries , in fact, translated into Chinese, is "hello", that is actually not only "hello" so simple meaning, he has hope Allah give you peace in this life and auspicious celebrations in the next life, there is traditional culture in it, so the average person learning Arabic, he will find it very difficult, this system is also very complicated. In the Arabic system, I have to learn not only this sound, not only the Arabic language, but also all aspects of the Qur'an, including scriptural commentary, linguistics, grammar, lexical science, which is quite boring for me.
▲ Quran
Host: The Qur'an is the most important scripture in Islam, Muslims believe that the Qur'an is the revelation of Allah Allah, the content of the Quran and the Old Testament of Judaism and the New Testament of Christianity have the same main stories, but unlike the latter two, the positioning of the Quran is a guiding text, so the book is rarely detailed to record the relevant historical events, emphasizing the values in the event, not the event itself. The Qur'an and the Sunnah are the basis for the development of Islamic law.
Teacher Ma: I would like to ask, as a Chinese Muslim, do you find it difficult to study the Quran again and again in the process of studying the Quran?
Ma Yanqiang: There must be obstacles and difficulties, after all, we are Chinese Muslims, whether it is from elementary school, junior high school, high school, university, we accept the Chinese language and culture, ideological culture, and then delve into all aspects of learning the Arabic Quran, which may be the reason of my own personality, I just want to master some languages, I don't want to study too much in religion.
Host: I would like to ask what kind of influence does the ritual and restraint of religion have on your choice of life from your childhood to the present?
Ma Yanqiang: This has a very big impact, because from a young age, under the education of parents, under the influence of their own relatives, and mosques, they will have some influence on the knowledge of Islam from an early age, forming an education. For example, whether we Muslims meet and say hello, go to worship every Friday, if tomorrow is Ramadan, we also have to fast, so these aspects of life are inseparable from the influence of our Islamic educational tradition. For example, because Islam does not eat pork, cannot drink, and cannot lie, religious beliefs will also have certain constraints on your morality, and the impact from childhood to adulthood is still very large.
▲ Worship (Wikipedia).
Host: Because of the relationship between Mr. Ma's accent, here I want to interpret fasting, sealing is closed, fasting is fasting is fasting, fasting is also known as fasting, fasting is one of the five basic lessons of Islam, worship, restraint, fasting, and dynasty, and is a kind of religious activity for Muslims to cultivate their minds. According to Islamic teachings, men are 5 years old and women are 12 years old, and healthy Muslim men and women are required to fast in the month of September AH. So just now we mentioned that there is an Islamic calendar, we want to add Islamic legislation, the Islamic calendar, also known as the Hijri calendar, is currently the common legislation in Islamic countries, and it is also the only lunar calendar still in the legislation, completely based on the phase of the moon. In addition, the calculation of dates in Islamic education is also different, it is based on sunset as the beginning of the day, until the next day sunset is a day, so his calculation of day and night is before the night walk, day after, which constitutes the calculation of the date of the day. Just now we mentioned Ramadan, Ramadan refers to September in the Islamic calendar, why is it set as September? Because Allah Allah sent the Qur'an to Muslims in this month.
Okay, let's listen to Mr. Ma's fasting rules later, and what are the differences between Chinese Muslims and Pakistani Muslims in fasting.
Ma Yanqiang: No. Basically, in China, faith is relatively free.
Most of us in the Hui fast, but there are many people who do not fast. But like Pakistan, Egypt, because its entire society is mainly Islamic, more than 90% are Muslims, fasting has formed a mutual supervision, a moral constraint, so everyone will go to fast, in Pakistan fasting, because the weather in that place is relatively hot, so fasting is very difficult, but the difficulty is also direct, that is, exercise a person's will, so can complete this month's fasting, people's perseverance exercise is still very strong.
Ma Yanqiang: We Islam is actually calculated according to the Islamic calendar, many mosques have a crescent moon on it, and we Muslims actually use the moon as our monthly calendar. The moon is crescent-shaped as soon as it rises, just like on the first day of our lunar calendar, when the moon is full, it is fifteen, and when it goes down, it reaches thirty. We also form a month with the moon just coming out and ending with this, and the Islamic calendar is also divided into 12 months, not calculated by the moon, they are specialized in Ramadan. In fact, according to our Gregorian calendar, it will be postponed about 20 days every year, for example, April 4nd is Ramadan, and next year, it will become around March 2th, and the year after will become around February 3th. This Ramadan, you have to eat and drink water before 10 a.m., and you have to fast before 2 a.m., and after 20 a.m., you can't eat or drink anymore. Until the sun sets in the evening, that is, now it is basically around 5:00, in this whole day period, can not eat, can not drink water, can not lie, can not fight, can not fight, can not have this greed for money, greed for power, quit your selfish desires, in this whole day to dilute these desires for power, so that a very good exercise will be formed, through such a month fasting, in fact, it will also produce a considerable benefit to your body.
This month, from our physical point of view, these hangovers in the body are cleared out for you, because you can't drink water and eat all day, this burden on the body will be reduced a lot, and the blood will become relatively clear through this month's cleanup, like those with three highs, diabetes, through this month's fasting, his body will also recover to a great extent. From our psychological and spiritual world, you will not have that sinful thought through this month's fasting.
Maybe as far as we explain, because after this month's abstinence, some other desires such as money and rights will be much lighter, and then this perseverance exercise for people is also very strong, and when you do something in the future, you will be very persistent, have perseverance to complete, and your spiritual world will have a very big impact, I think so.
Host: Just now you said that Ramadan like this will last for a whole month, and I also looked at the climate situation in Pakistan, because Pakistan has a tropical climate, so its overall temperature is very high, and precipitation itself is relatively rare. If we say that in such a very dry and very hot state, then Ramadan is carried out in such a state, I don't know much whether the physical condition of the human body can adapt, for example, take drinking water as an example.
▲Eid al-Fitr
Ma Yanqiang: Pakistan is also fasting, in Egypt is also fasting, like Egypt, Pakistan are very hot areas, Egypt has less precipitation than Pakistan, it is drier than Pakistan, but these people have persevered, because Islam believes that it is to experience the life of poor people through fasting, for example, very poor people, can not eat a day, can not drink water a day, what kind of situation are they? After the experience, if we have the ability, we have to pay the iftar, because after this month's fasting is over, you have to donate a part of the money to the poor to let them break the fast. This month's fasting, the main thing is to get God, get the love of our Allah, exercise our will, experience the life of our poor, through this month's exercise, perseverance is also very strong, will not cause much harm to your body, because I also personally fasted like this, the climate is very hot, but you can also persevere, so this person's potential is still infinite.
Moderator: Are there any examples in Pakistan of dying of thirst or starvation during the month-long fasting process of Ramadan?
Ma Yanqiang: No, Islam is a very open religion, not that it is mandatory for you to fast, you must fast. For example, those patients in the hospital, or those who are in very poor health, or those who have to travel long distances, go on business trips, or have to transport something, pull what goods, these people do not need to fast. In fact, this Ramadan is completely voluntary, for example, if you have a physical condition, you cannot fast, fasting is harmful to the body, so at this time your fasting is illegal, you have to take medicine and drink water, if you don't take medicine and don't drink water will endanger your life, so in this case fasting is still wrong.
Moderator: Thank you very much for sharing with Teacher Ma, allowing us to interpret and feel the dignity of Ramadan up close. Nearly 19.<> billion Muslims around the world practice self-discipline and gratitude through fasting during the day, such as abstaining from food and drink. This method of fasting is not only available in Islam, the world's major religions have the practice of fasting, but the form of fasting is different, but the essence is very similar. For example, one of the Taoist health regimens, the valley opening, balances the body's functions through abstinence from eating, meditating, and purifying the mind, suppressing the temptation of material desires and making people feel awe and gratitude. Okay, thanks for listening, tomorrow at the same time "Ningdian Vision" - Ma Yanqiang's story (<>), see you all.
