The most important event of the Cambodian New Year isPick up the fairy. The government will announce the exact time when the fairy went down to earth that year. According to Cambodia's Buddhist tradition, every household in the country sets up a sacrificial table in advance, arranges fruits, pastries, jasmine flowers and other tribute items, lights incense candles, opens the doors and windows, beats gongs and drums, and welcomes the New Year fairy to earth.
