The most important event of the Cambodian New Year isPick up the fairy. The government will announce the exact time when the fairy went down to earth that year. According to Cambodia's Buddhist tradition, every household in the country sets up a sacrificial table in advance, arranges fruits, pastries, jasmine flowers and other tribute items, lights incense candles, opens the doors and windows, beats gongs and drums, and welcomes the New Year fairy to earth. The scene is like welcoming the God of Wealth in China.
On the second day of the New Year, people organize outings in groups of families or young men and women, and the most popular place is the Buddhist temple. So, there were scenes of crowds and crowds in Buddhist temples across the country. Believers flocked to listen to monks reciting scriptures, offering fasting and blessings, showering Buddha statues, splashing water and powder in the temple, watching concerts, and playing various traditional folk games.
During this period, various temples hung Buddhist five colored flags and white crocodile like flags. People dressed in festive attire flocked to the temples to worship, and under the guidance of the elders, five or seven sand dunes were built around the temples to wish the grain was full.
On the third day of the New Year, which is the last day of the Cambodian New Year, Buddhist believers will cut colored paper into immortals, prepare some meals, and once again go to the temple to give alms and listen to scriptures, announcing the official end of the three-day Cambodian New Year.
