Recently, the Malaysian National Bureau of Statistics released a remarkable report showing that the country's population has achieved significant growth in the past year, climbing from 32 million to 34 million, with a growth rate of 2.3%.

According to the report, the growth of Malaysia's population is mainly due to natural growth, where the birth rate is higher than the mortality rate. However, it is worth noting that the birth rate in the first quarter of this year decreased by 9.4% compared to the same period last year, from 117413 to 106386. Nevertheless, statistics official Mohamad Uzl stated that this is still a positive natural growth phenomenon, reflecting the vitality and development of Malaysian society.

In terms of population composition, Malaysia still maintains its multicultural characteristics. Malays remain the largest ethnic group, with a population of 17.7 million, accounting for 57.9% of the total population. The Chinese ethnic group, as an important component of Malaysian society, has remained stable in both quantity and proportion, with approximately 6.9 million people, accounting for 22.6% of the total population. This data indicates that despite changes in the global trend of Chinese immigration, the Malaysian Chinese community still maintains its unique charm and vitality.

In addition, the report also provides a detailed list of the distribution of other ethnic groups. The indigenous population is approximately 3.8 million, accounting for 12.2%; The Indian population is about 2 million, accounting for 6.6%; The population of other ethnic groups is about 200000, accounting for 0.7%. These numbers not only reflect the multicultural characteristics of Malaysia, but also demonstrate the inclusiveness and harmonious coexistence of the country's society.

In terms of age structure, Malaysia's reproductive age group is mainly concentrated between 30 and 39 years old, accounting for 52.5% of the proportion. Next are young people aged 20 to 29, accounting for 40%. This data indicates that Malaysia's reproductive age is gradually being pushed back, which may be related to factors such as the pace of modern society, improved education levels, and increased economic pressure.

Meanwhile, the report also pointed out that Malaysia's mortality rate decreased by 1.5% in the first quarter of this year, with a total of 47964 people. This means that an average of 533 people die every day, and one person dies every two minutes. Among them, elderly people aged 60 and above accounted for the majority of the deceased, reaching 71%. This data reminds us that paying attention to the health and welfare issues of the elderly is one of the important challenges facing Malaysian society.
