Release time:2024-05-28 Source: Qingqiao Number of views:

As the summer electricity peak approaches, the Vietnamese government has recently issued calls to several northern manufacturing companies, including globally renowned electronics manufacturer Foxconn, to ensure stable power supply and prevent a repeat of last summer's widespread power outages.

Last year, the northern region of Vietnam experienced rare high temperatures and tight power supply, leading to multiple large-scale power outages and causing huge economic losses to local businesses. It is estimated that the output loss caused by power shortage is as high asOne billion US dollars poses a serious challenge to Vietnam's highly dependent economic growth on foreign investment.

Faced with this situation, the Vietnamese government has actively taken measures and conducted in-depth communication with manufacturing enterprises, including Foxconn. According to Reuters, Vietnamese officials are encouraging Foxconn to reduce the electricity consumption of its assembly plant in the north by 30% and hope that other manufacturers can also respond to this call. This call, although not mandatory, reflects the Vietnamese government's determination and action in ensuring stable electricity supply.

As a globally renowned electronics manufacturer, Foxconn has always been an important supplier to technology giants such as Apple. In recent years, with the intensification of geopolitical competition between China and the United States, multinational companies such as Foxconn have shifted their production bases from China to Vietnam and other places. Apple has also reduced the number of its suppliers in Vietnam over the past year25 companies increased to 35 and promised to further increase investment in Vietnam. Therefore, the response of manufacturing giants such as Foxconn is crucial for the Vietnamese government's energy-saving initiatives.

Under the government's call, companies such as Foxconn have expressed their willingness to actively respond by adjusting production plans and optimizing energy utilization to reduce electricity consumption. These measures not only help alleviate the pressure on electricity supply, but also improve the energy utilization efficiency of enterprises and reduce production costs.

In addition, in order to cope with the upcoming summer electricity peak, the Vietnamese government has also taken a series of other measures. This includes requiring coal-fired power plants to postpone equipment maintenance work to ensure higher electricity demand can be met during the hottest months. Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Myung sung has also promised foreign investors that the government will fully ensure stable electricity supply and provide strong support for economic development.
