US officials also pointed out that the Venezuelan elections were manipulated and the results were "completely unreliable".

Venezuela announces recall of diplomats from seven Latin American countries

On July 29th, Venezuela announced that it would recall diplomatic personnel from seven Latin American countries including Argentina, Chile, and Peru, and demanded that their diplomatic personnel withdraw from Venezuela. According to a statement released by the Venezuelan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this move is due to attempts by countries such as Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Peru, Panama, the Dominican Republic, and Uruguay not to recognize the results of the Venezuelan election.

The Supreme Court of Venezuela confirms Maduro's victory in the election

On August 22, Venezuelan Supreme Court President Rodriguez announced on national television that after expert review, it was finally confirmed that there were no objections to the election materials, and Maduro's victory and re-election as Venezuelan President are valid.

Subsequently, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Hill stated that the ruling of the Supreme Court's Electoral Chamber has been finalized in response to domestic and international doubts about the election results, and he hopes that other countries will not interfere in Venezuela's internal affairs.

Venezuela issues arrest warrant for opposition presidential candidate

On September 2nd, the Venezuelan Attorney General's Office announced that the court has approved the issuance of an arrest warrant for opposition presidential candidate Gonzalez, accusing him of forging public documents, inciting illegal activities, conspiracy, and sabotage. It is reported that the opposition had previously uploaded voting records showing that Gonzalez won the presidential election in July with an overwhelming advantage, triggering riots in Venezuela.

During Maduro's 10 years in power, Venezuela faced severe economic problems, with a 80% decline in gross domestic product and over 7 million of its 30 million citizens forced to leave the country to make a living. Maduro was also accused of practicing authoritarianism, imprisoning critics, and harassing opposition groups.

In this election, the opposition camp originally nominated the popular opposition leader Machado to challenge Maduro, but Machado was disqualified from running. Subsequently, Urrutia replaced Machado in the battle. Machado actively campaigned for her representative Urrutia and called on voters to remain vigilant at polling stations during critical moments of vote counting to prevent election fraud.
