Recently, Thailand announced the informal results of the parliamentary lower house elections, with the Kadima Party winningOut of 151 seats, the Thai Party received 141 seats, the Thai Pride Party received 71 seats, and the Thai Civil Power Party received 40 seats.

Undoubtedly, the Kadima Party is the big winner in the election for the lower house of the Thai parliament. The leader of the Kadima Party, Pita Limgarongarat, stated that he has communicated with four political parties, including the Wat Thai Party and the Thai Liberal Party, and is expected to establish a ruling alliance formed by the four parties. He is also ready to serve as the Prime Minister.

Pita Limgaroen Ratt was born in September 1980 and has ancestral roots in Shantou, Guangdong Province. He is 43 years old and his father was a former advisor to the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives in Thailand. His uncle served as an assistant to the Minister of the Interior in Thailand.

He grew up in New Zealand and completed his undergraduate degree in Finance and Banking at the University of Law and Economics in Bangkok. He then obtained a Master's degree in Public Policy and Business from Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was the first Thai student to receive an international scholarship from Harvard University and was also the candidate with the highest degree in the Thai Prime Minister election. Before entering politics, Pita took over as the general manager at the family business Agrifood, served as the executive director of Grab, a Southeast Asian ride hailing and meal delivery platform company, and also served as a consultant at Boston Information Group.

In 2018, Pita joined the Future Progressive Party of Thailand and was elected as a member of the Thai Parliament in 2019. After the dissolution of the Future Kadima Party by Congress, Pita and 54 members of parliament formed the Kadima Party, and Pita was elected as the party chairman.

In this Thai election, the Kadima Party has reached the forefront among 70 political parties, which is inseparable from their radical and cutting-edge policies. The Kadima Party is the only political party in Thailand that proposes to promote the reform of Thailand's strict and offensive monarchy law.

According to Article 112 of the Thai Criminal Law, civilians who criticize and offend the monarchy can be sentenced to a maximum of 15 years' imprisonment. In 2020, Thailand experienced a large-scale protest led by young people, demanding reforms to the military and limiting the wealth and influence of the Thai monarch. More than 240 people were convicted of offending the monarch. Pita stated that a rational judgment is needed on these cases.

He also emphasized that the Kadima Party will continue to oppose political parties supported by the military when forming a government, and proposed reforms to the military service system. They believe that Thailand's current compulsory military service policy has squeezed out military spending and caused military redundancy. The Kadima Party advocates changing the compulsory military service policy to a resource military service policy to improve the equipment level of the military.

At the same time, they also advocate breaking economic monopolies. Taking the beverage industry as an example, according to a survey, the market size of the Thai beverage industry is around 400 billion baht, but there are less than 10 legitimate liquor companies among them. The beverage industry in Thailand is completely monopolized by large enterprises, with high industry standards and high product prices. Therefore, the Qianjin Party suggests lowering industry barriers and introducing market competition while ensuring safety and hygiene.

Another controversial issue is the legalization of marijuana. In June 2022, Thailand removed marijuana from the list of "fifth class" drugs, officially becoming the first country in Asia to legalize medical marijuana. In the past year, there have been numerous cases of cannabis abuse in Thailand. The Kadima Party opposes the complete implementation of "cannabis liberalization" without clear legal preparation. It is necessary to first establish rules and then gradually relax them in order to carry out effective control, such as dividing the food special zones and dividing the consumption population.

At the same time, the Kadima Party supports the legalization of same-sex marriage and the legalization of Thailand's pornography and gambling industries, believing that this is a way to drive tourism and promote economic development.

The radical and cutting-edge views of the Progressive Party, as well as its bold transformation strategy, have attracted the support of many young people. In fact, in this Thai election, the number of young voters under the age of 26 only accounted for 14% of all Thai voters, and the party's complete victory reflects the desire of young Thai people for change.

According to foreign media analysis, based solely on the results of the Thai House of Commons election, it can already be referred to as a "political earthquake", which represents a significant shift in public attitudes from conservatism to seeking change. They hope to change the current situation where the military holds power and also alleviate the wealth gap in society.

But the election of the House of Commons cannot determine the final Prime Minister. According to regulations, the Prime Minister candidate must obtain the support of more than half of the 750 seats in the House of Lords and the House of Commons, or 376 seats. Almost all of the 250 seats in the House of Lords are controlled by military background figures. Unless Pita can obtain the support of more than 376 seats in the House of Commons in subsequent Prime Minister elections, it is still unknown whether he can be elected as Prime Minister and lead Thailand towards change.
