Recently,According to Malaysian Home Minister Saifuddin Nasu Shin during a Q&A session in the lower house of parliament, as oftwo thousand and twenty-fourAs of October 31st, 12183 foreign professionals have been employed in Malaysia, injecting new vitality into the country's economic and social development.
Among these foreign professionals, China has the highest number of professionals, reaching 27460, followed closely by India, the Philippines, Japan, and Indonesia, with a total of 64% of foreign professionals from these five countries. They are mainly active in key industries such as service and technology, providing strong talent support for Malaysia's industrial upgrading and economic development.
Minister Saifuddin Nasushin also provided a detailed introduction to the salary levels of foreign professionals in Malaysia. According to different monthly salaries, all foreign professionals working in Malaysia are divided into three categories: high-end talents with a monthly salary of RM10000 or above, mid-range talents with a monthly salary of RM5000 to RM9999, and junior talents with a monthly salary of RM3000 to RM4999. The immigration department issues work permits based on this classification, ensuring the legal employment of foreign professionals in Malaysia.
These foreign professionals not only bring abundant human resources to Malaysia, but also make significant contributions to the Malaysian economy through various forms. Their daily activities, such as daily consumption, children's education, tourism and sightseeing, water and electricity expenses, and investment in real estate, have injected new vitality into the local economy. According to the Malaysian Productivity Council (MPC) assessment, the contribution or impact of foreign professionals on the Malaysian economy is as high as RM75 billion, equivalent to 4.8% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). This figure fully demonstrates the important position and role of foreign professionals in Malaysia's economic and social development.
In addition, foreign professionals have made positive contributions to Malaysia's tax revenue. According to data from the tax bureau, the total income tax paid by foreign professionals is as high as RM100 million. These tax revenues not only provide strong support for Malaysia's public finances, but also provide important guarantees for improving people's livelihoods and promoting social development.
The reason why Malaysia can attract so many foreign professionals is due to its unique advantages and charm. Malaysia has a relatively low cost of living, a stable political environment, enormous economic growth potential, and a highly skilled local workforce. In addition, the multilingual ability of the Malaysian people also provides great convenience for foreign nationals to communicate in work and life. These advantages make Malaysia ranked eighth globally in the 2023 Foreigners' Cities Ranking, making it an ideal place for foreigners to live and work.
