Recently, inIndian NisiAt an important meeting held at the Presidential Palace, Indonesian President Prabowo issued clear instructions to various government departments: to continue to increase efforts to attract investment for economic zones and accelerate the completion of national strategic projects to further promote rapid economic growth in Indonesia.
It is reported that special economic zones, as carefully crafted economic growth engines by the Indonesian government, have always been regarded as important platforms for attracting foreign investment, promoting industrial upgrading, and creating employment opportunities. President Prabowo emphasized the importance of economic zones at the meeting and called for close collaboration among various departments to develop more favorable policies and measures to attract more domestic and foreign investors to invest and develop businesses.
According to the Indonesian Minister of Economic Affairs, Elronga, as of the third quarter of 2024, the Indonesian Special Economic Zones have attracted a cumulative investment of up to 242.5 trillion Indonesian rupiah (approximately 20.5 billion Singapore dollars), creating over 150000 job opportunities for the region. This achievement not only demonstrates the enormous potential of economic zones in attracting foreign investment, but also further strengthens the Indonesian government's determination to continue promoting the construction of economic zones.
Under the guidance of President Prabowo, the Indonesian government will further strengthen communication and cooperation with enterprises within the economic zone, understand their actual needs and difficulties, and actively provide policy support and assistance. At the same time, the government will increase its publicity efforts for economic zones, enhance their visibility and influence in domestic and international markets, in order to attract more investors to come and inspect and invest.
In addition to economic zones, President Prabowo also emphasized the importance of national strategic projects. He requested that all departments accelerate project progress to ensure that all projects can be completed on schedule. According to Minister Elronga, the Indonesian government plans to complete 18 national strategic projects this year, including infrastructure projects such as dams and toll roads, and another 30 projects next year. The smooth implementation of these projects will further improve Indonesia's infrastructure construction and enhance the country's overall competitiveness.
During the meeting, President Prabowo specifically mentioned Indonesia's food and energy security issues. He requested the agricultural department to develop a more practical and feasible rice production plan, striving to increase rice production to 32 million tons by 2025 and achieve self-sufficiency in domestic rice production. At the same time, he also requested that the energy department strengthen energy security measures to ensure stable and reliable energy supply for the country.
