The Thai government is currently promoting an ambitious infrastructure construction project - the South Thailand Land Bridge project, which is expected to gradually take shape in the coming years and is expected to become an important transportation link connecting the east and west coasts of southern Thailand. According to the latest report from the Thai newspaper "National News", Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Suriya revealed that the government is actively drafting the "Southern Economic Corridor Act" with the aim of building a solid legal foundation for this grand land bridge project.

Suria stated that the development of the Southern Economic Corridor Act is currently underway and is expected to be completed in the second quarter of next year. At the same time, the Ministry of Transport is also busy drafting relevant bidding documents, and once the bill is approved by Congress, the bidding process can be immediately initiated. This means that the construction pace of the Tainan Land Bridge project is accelerating, and it is expected to achieve its grand vision as soon as possible.

The Tainan Land Bridge project is a huge investment project, with an estimated total investment of 1 trillion Thai baht. The project will be carried out in stages, with the first phase planned to commence in 2026 and be completed and operational by 2030. The following two stages will also start construction in 2031 and 2035 respectively, and are expected to be completed by the end of 2034 and 2036. This project will not only greatly improve the transportation conditions in southern Thailand, but also inject new vitality into the local economic development.

Suriya also revealed that the Thai Ministry of Transport has held multiple international roadshows this year, aiming to showcase the enormous potential and commercial value of the Thai South Land Bridge project to global investors. International investors from Dubai, China, and Japan have expressed strong interest in this project. The participation of these investors will undoubtedly provide strong financial support and technical support for the construction of the Tainan Land Bridge project.

The core concept of the Tainan Land Bridge project is to connect shipping between the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea, allowing merchant ships traveling between the Middle East and East Asia to choose to avoid the busy Malacca Strait, thereby saving navigation time and reducing transportation costs. The Thai Ministry of Transport estimates that the completion of the land bridge project will reduce the average shipping distance by four days and is expected to lower transportation costs by 15%. This significant benefit will undoubtedly attract more international shipping companies and logistics enterprises to choose transportation through the Tainan Land Bridge.
