Release time:2024-12-31 Source: Qingqiao Number of views:

Recently, Malaysia officially began delivering green electricity to Singapore, marking a new stage of cooperation between the two countries in the field of renewable energy.

It is understood that this green power projectTransportation planThe first phase of electricity generation is 50 megawatts, provided by the National Energy Corporation of Malaysia (JNEC). This arrangement is the specific implementation of the renewable energy power agreement signed between Guoneng and Singapore's Shengke Power on December 9th. According to the agreement, Guoneng will provide green electricity to Shengke Power in stages through the existing interconnected power grids of Singapore and Malaysia, with an expected total capacity of 300 megawatts.

The Malaysian Ministry of Energy and Water Transition stated in a statement released on Friday that this cross-border green power supply plan is part of the Ministry of Energy's renewable energy cross-border electricity sales plan. The plan aims to promote Malaysia's vision for energy transformation and implement its commitment to regional power integration. The Malaysian Ministry of Energy is confident that this plan will help strengthen energy cooperation between the two countries and play an important role in promoting the ASEAN power grid.

The green power transaction between Malaysia and Singapore also comes with Renewable Energy Certificates. This is Singapore's first official import of clean energy with renewable energy certificates. A renewable energy certificate is a document that proves the source of renewable energy output, ensuring that the energy is generated in a sustainable manner, thereby enhancing the traceability and credibility of clean energy.

Shengke Electric, as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Singapore's Shengke Industries, highly appreciates the green electricity import plan. A spokesperson for Shengke Power stated that the 50 MW of green electricity imported from Malaysia is not part of the existing "Laos Thailand Malaysia Singapore Electricity Integration Project" (LTMS-PIP), but it is the only project outside of LTMS-PIP that imports green electricity from Malaysia and the only imported green electricity in Singapore with a renewable energy certificate. This green energy will be imported from the Malaysian peninsula and transmitted to Singapore through Guoneng's power grid.

Currently, Singapore has imported 100 megawatts of renewable hydropower from Laos through LTMS-PIP. The green electricity imported from Malaysia this time will further enrich Singapore's energy structure and increase the proportion of renewable energy in the total energy supply. This is of great significance for Singapore to achieve energy diversification, reduce carbon emissions, and promote sustainable development.
