Bovine nodular dermatosis(Lumpy skin disease (LSD), also known as bovine nodular rash, bovine nodular dermatitis, or bovine nodular skin disease, is caused by the bovine nodular skin disease virus. Its clinical manifestations include fever, widespread nodules on the skin mucosa and organ surface, emaciation, lymph node enlargement, skin edema, rapid decrease in milk production in cows, and even death. This type of disease is transmitted through insect bites, but it does not pose any risk to humans.

In 1929, LSD first appeared in Zambia, Africa, and has since gradually spread throughout most countries in Africa. In 1988, LSD was first introduced to Egypt from Africa, and then to Israel in 1989. After 2000, LSD became endemic in the Middle East. In 2013, it spread to Türkiye and Iraq, and in 2014, it spread to Iran, Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan, Armenia and other countries.

Greece and Russia, which were introduced to Europe in 2015, have continued to spread in Europe, including Bulgaria, Macedonia, Serbia, Albania, and Montenegro. In 2019, it was first introduced to Bangladesh and India. In August 2019, China was diagnosed with bovine nodular skin disease for the first time in Ili Kazakh Prefecture, Xinjiang.

Australian Chief Veterinary Officer Mark·Mark Schipp stated that the Australian government is in urgent communication with the Malaysian government to confirm that Australian cattle have not been infected with bovine nodular rash. Australian Agriculture Minister David Littleproud also stated that authorities are working to complete a health survey of the affected cattle. He also assured importers from various countries that the animals exported from Australia comply with Indonesian regulations, including not being infected with bovine nodular rash. The authorities are conducting rapid diagnostic tests on cattle to assist affected cattle farms in restoring exports.

David·On the morning of August 10th, Littpraud told Australia Today that he was confident that there were no cases of this disease in Australia and that cattle were likely infected with it in Indonesia. But he is concerned that the reputation of Australian cattle farmers may be damaged.
