fivemonthseventeenThe Royal Tillage Day held on the day marks the beginning of the rice planting season in Thailand, but researchers suggest that the El Ni ñ o phenomenon may affect rice yields.
The El Ni ñ o phenomenon is a climate pattern that occurs during Pacific warming. This may lead to drought in Southeast Asia,Thereby reducing the available water for rice cultivation.
according toKasikornAccording to the data from the research center, if the impact of El Ni ñ o is mild, it is expected thattwo thousand and twenty-threeThe rice production in the current season of the year will decrease by approximately4.1% -6.0%, i.etwo thousand five hundred and tenten thousand-2560Ten thousand tons. 01Conflict between Chinese Agricultural Company and Lao Villagers
Recently, two Chinese agricultural companies with land management rights in Laos have clashed with local villagers during the land clearance process in the southeastern province of Azo Poe. Mr. Phouvanh Manisot, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Sanamxay District, Azores Province, acknowledged that forest management is a complex issue for the local government.
In recent years, in order to accelerate the process of agricultural modernization, the Lao government has encouraged and supported foreign investors to invest and establish agricultural enterprises in Laos. Local villagers have faced conflicts due to the gap between government subsidies and their expected returns. Villagers have directly shifted their focus to foreign companies that invest. For the Lao government, such incidents are also a complex task that urgently needs to be addressed. Balancing the income of local villagers, attracting agricultural capital for foreign investment, establishing a dialogue and communication mechanism for villagers in advance, and creating a safe investment environment for foreign companies investing should be achievedTo address the core of such issues. Here, foreign-funded enterprises investing in Laos' agriculture also need to absorb equal employment opportunities for local villagers, establish a reasonable mechanism for profit distribution, and moderately favor local villagers. This will also be a solution for enterprises to face such problems.
