01Cambodia to Restore Cross border Adoption of Cambodian Children Regulations

The Cambodian Ministry of Social Welfare and the Italian Cross border Adoption Committee held talks to discuss the resumption of allowing the adoption of Cambodian children. In 2009, in order to prevent Cambodian children from becoming victims of commercial human trafficking, the Cambodian government decided to temporarily prohibit foreign individuals from adopting Cambodian children. Subsequently, Cambodia passed the "Law on the Adoption of Children by Foreigners", but due to some legal and technical issues, the relevant procedures have not been implemented.

According to the Law on the Adoption of Children by Foreigners in Cambodia, Cambodian children adopted by foreigners must be orphans or children adopted by institutions under the Cambodian Ministry of Social Welfare. The age of adopted children should be under 8 years old, but children who require special care can be under 18 years old. The couple applying for the adoption of a child must be at least 30 years old, or at least 22 years older than the adopted child, but must not exceed 45 years old. Applicants for the adoption of Cambodian children must be legitimate citizens of countries that have established diplomatic relations with Cambodia. The adopters should also be couples without children or with only one child, and they must have the ability to protect and raise children. In addition, the adopters must regularly report the status of the adopted children to the relevant departments in Cambodia.

According to data provided by the Cambodian Committee for Foreigners to Adopt ChildrenBetween 2002 and 2011, approximately 3728 Cambodian children were adopted by foreigners. Among them, Italy is the country with the most adopted Cambodian children. Italy stated that it has provided training to Cambodian officials, including adoption procedures, laws, and protection of children's rights, to comply with international law regulations and requirements. Italy also has specialized agencies in place to liaise with relevant Cambodian departments.

02By 2045, Indonesia's population will reach 324 million

The official estimate of Indonesia is that, with the continuation of existing fertility policies, the population of Indonesia will reach 324 million by 2045, an increase of approximately 54.42 million compared to 2020. At that time, Indonesia will decline from being the fourth most populous country in the world to sixth place, and be overtaken by Nigeria and Pakistan.

Data shows that by 2045, the proportion of the population aged 0-14 in Indonesia has decreased from 24.56% in 2020 to 19.61%, and the population aged 15-64 has decreased from 69.28% in 2020 to 65.79%. At the same time, the proportion of people aged 65 and above will increase from 6.16% in 2020 to 14.61%. Overall, from 2020 to 2050, the annual population growth rate in Indonesia will reach 0.67%, and then slow down year by year.

The relevant departments suggest that the government introduce supporting policies to address the trend of population change, including achieving balanced population development, ensuring that the human resource gap can be filled, and maintaining a balanced urban-rural development.

02The average annual growth rate of logistics in Vietnam is 14% -16%

According to expert evaluations, logistics is the fastest-growing and most stable industry in Vietnam, with an average annual growth rate of 14% -16%. The logistics market size is approximately $40 billion to $42 billion annually.According to the "2022 Emerging Market Logistics Index Report" released by logistics and transportation service provider Agility, Vietnam ranks 11th among the top 50 logistics markets.

Vietnam takes advantage of its long coastline and has the best capacity seaport system. Its economic growth rate is relatively optimistic, production is stable, and e-commerce is rapidly growing in both exports and domestic consumption. It has become a world center for goods transportation and a link in the global supply chain.

In addition to advantages, difficulties and challenges coexist, such as high service costs and increasing infrastructure pressure. Experts believe that the logistics industry should develop infrastructure connectivity, promote public-private cooperation, and expand into a comprehensive logistics supply chain center with service capabilities such as circulation, processing, preservation, transportation, and distribution. Vietnam International Logistics Exhibition(VILOG 2023 will be launched in August 2023, which is an opportunity for logistics enterprises and related fields to obtain various solutions and cooperation promotion plans, optimize logistics processes and goods circulation.
