01Deadline for nominations in Cambodia's 7th National Assembly elections
The nomination deadline for the 7th National Assembly Election in Cambodia is 20 political parties, of which 11 have been officially approved by the National Election Commission. The nomination qualifications of the remaining 9 political parties are still under review, and these 20 political parties will compete for 125 seats in Cambodia's parliament.
According to the Cambodian National Assembly Election Law, the deadline for nomination in general elections cannot be less than 70 days from the polling day. Only political parties legally registered with the Ministry of the Interior are eligible to nominate candidates to run for seats, and individuals cannot run as "independent individuals". All political parties nominated for the general election must pay a deposit of 15 million Cambodian coins to the National Election Commission. If the party's vote rate is less than 3% or they are unable to win any seats, the deposit will be confiscated.
It is reported that the voting day for the current Cambodian parliamentary election is scheduled for July 13th. According to the latest voter registration data, there are 23789 polling stations in Cambodia, and the number of eligible voters for the election is 9.71 million, accounting for 89.28% of the population aged 18 and above.
