Recently, the Malaysian government announced the cancellation of direct subsidies for diesel retail prices and instead adopted a more flexible subsidy mechanism. The saved funds will be used to increase subsidies for egg prices to meet the needs of the people.

It is reported that starting from June 10th, the retail price of diesel in Malaysia will no longer be directly subsidized by the government and will begin to fluctuate freely according to international oil prices. This resulted in a 56% increase in diesel prices from RM2.15 per liter to RM3.35 per liter. However, the government has made it clear that this adjustment is not a complete cancellation of diesel subsidies, but rather an optimization of the subsidy mechanism to ensure that subsidy funds are not abused or wasted.

Faced with the rise in diesel prices, the Malaysian government quickly responded by deciding to use the saved funds to subsidize egg prices in order to alleviate people's living pressure. according toMalaysian Prime Minister Anwar IbrahimThe announcement states that the government will allocate RM100 million from the saved funds to increase egg price subsidies, and the retail prices of eggs at all levels will be uniformly reduced by 3 cents. This means that the retail prices of A-grade, B-grade, and C-grade eggs will be reduced to 42 cents, 40 cents, and 38 cents per egg, respectively, and the price reduction measures will take immediate effect.

Anwar In the announcement, it is emphasized that the increase in egg price subsidies will increase the government's subsidy for each egg to 10 cents. He revealed that the government's investment in egg price subsidies reached 927 million ringgit last year. The adjustment of subsidy strategy this time aims to better utilize financial resources and ensure that subsidy funds can more effectively benefit the general public.

The Vice Chairman of the Malaysian Consumer Movement Association, Ben Rende Xing, welcomed the government's move and reminded the public that if they find that businesses have not lowered egg prices according to regulations, they can report to relevant departments. He called on consumers to actively supervise the market and jointly safeguard consumer rights.
