Recently, the Ministry of Health of Vietnam has proposed the Prime Minister of the government to approve the "RecentlyIn 2030, the long-term plan for the development of the domestic pharmaceutical and medicinal industry is 2045. Among them, the plan involves many special policies that support pharmaceutical enterprises, such as prioritizing investment in the research and production of high-quality medicinal materials, and developing the production of medicinal materials with national brands. This has laid a good policy foundation for the internationalization of Vietnamese traditional Chinese medicine.
Vietnam is located inSoutheast AsiaofMainland Southeast AsiaAt the southeast end, surrounded by the sea on three sides, the terrain is narrow and long. The terrain is high in the northwest and low in the southeast. Three quarters of the territory is mountainous and plateau, with dense rivers and a length ofThere are 2860 rivers over 10 kilometers long. Vietnam also has a Tropical monsoon climate, with four distinct seasons in the north and dry and rainy seasons in the south. The humid air and sufficient rainfall are very suitable for the growth of most kinds of Chinese medicinal materials.
It is understood that there are approximatelyThere are more than 5100 kinds, including the production of drugs, nutriments, beverages, cosmetics, etc. for the treatment of diseases, such as cloves, grass fruits, peppers, sea dragons, seahorses, cuttlebone, Scaphium affine, nutmeg, Millennium Health, Morinda officinalis, areca, amomum, frankincense, myrrh, styrax, agarwood, sandalwood, etc. White Tiger Activating Lotion, Vietnam perfume and Vietnam Horn Comb are also known as the three treasures of Vietnam.
However, such a large production base for traditional Chinese medicine is not satisfactory in terms of exports.
Japan and South Korea have a high share in the world traditional Chinese medicine market80% -90%. Taking Japan as an example, 75% of the raw materials for the production of Chinese medicine are imported from China,The world's largest exporter of traditional Chinese medicine, Tsumura Corporation of Japan, produces raw materials for traditional Chinese medicine80% from China. So far, some Vietnamese enterprises have exported advantageous medicinal herbs such as cinnamon, star anise, cardamom, turmeric, and locust, especially the total export value of cinnamon and star anise has been continuously increasing in recent years,In 2022, it has reached 276 million US dollars, but compared to the global Chinese herbal medicine market, this number is negligible.
According to research institutions, Vietnam's export of traditional Chinese medicine mainly faces two problems. Firstly, most of Vietnam's medicinal materials are exported as raw materials without deep processing, and the added value of products is not competitive in the global Chinese medicine market. Secondly, most medicinal plants in Vietnam cannot meet international standards, and there is a certain gap in quality compared to major global traditional Chinese medicine products.
Authoritative experts in the industry have also proposed corresponding solutions to this issue.
First of all, in terms of product production, Vietnam Pharmaceutical participates in the competition in the global medicinal materials market. It needs to develop Growing region of medicinal materials, expand the planting scale, form an intensive and large-scale medicinal materials production area, and apply Applied science and technology to ensure the quality of medicinal materials. Traceability and product quality management must be carried out in accordance with the World Health Organization's "Guidelines for Production Quality Management of Standardized Planting and Collection of Medicinal Materials". Produce organic medicinal materials according to international standards, Vietnamese Pharmacopoeia standards, and import country standards.
Secondly, in terms of industrial development, Vietnam needs to increase the investment of traditional Chinese medicine enterprises in technology and varieties, while strengthening brand building. Optimize the supply chain, based on front-end raw material production, develop processing industries, and increase product added value. We also need to increase publicity efforts to enhance the international awareness and influence of Vietnamese medicinal materials.
This time, the Ministry of Health of Vietnam has recommended the approval of the "Recently approvedIn 2030, the long-term plan for the development of the domestic pharmaceutical and medicinal industry in 2045 has laid a good policy foundation for the development of the Vietnamese medicinal industry, and is the first step for Vietnamese medicinal materials to go abroad.
