Thailand News

China is the main market for the export of durian from Thailand. Thai fruit occupies the first place in the Chinese imported fruit market with a 40% market share, with a strong competitive advantage.

In order to promote the export of Thai fruits to China, the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives of Thailand and the General Administration of Customs of China previously signed the Protocol between the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives of the Kingdom of Thailand on the Inspection and Quarantine Requirements for the Transit of Chinese and Thai Imported and Exported Fruits through Third Countries. This is an opportunity for fruit farmers and exporters to reduce transportation costs and expand Thai fruit exports to China.

Rabipa, Director of the Agricultural Academic Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives of Thailand, said that Thailand has made preparations and the fruit quarantine and inspection station in Langkai Prefecture has also made preparations to fully support the entry of Thai fruits into China through Mohan Station, and will fully prepare for the fruit export peak season in 2023, in accordance with the quarantine and inspection requirements of China and Thailand.

Improve the export competitiveness of Thai fruits, improve quarantine and inspection standards, strengthen the promotion of Chinese quarantine measures, strictly control the spread of the epidemic, and maintain the image of "high-quality fruit" of Thai fruits.

Cambodia News

The Cambodian government held a ceremony to welcome the return of 77 Khmer cultural relics to Cambodia.

It is understood that the 77 cultural relics returned this time include a batch of precious statues, as well as crowns, earrings, bracelets, necklaces, belts, and a gold bowl, which dates back to the 11th century and is suspected to be made of pure gold.

The Minister of Culture and Arts, Peng Sagna, revealed that these cultural relics originated from the Koh Ker temple, existed during and before the Angkor dynasty, and were stolen during the war in Cambodia.

Currently, some of these cultural relics are well preserved, and some are under repair.

These artifacts were originally privately held by the late British collector Douglas Latchford. With the active support of Prime Minister Hun Sen, and through the efforts of the Ministry of Culture and Arts and other parties, after three years of negotiations, Rachford's daughter decided to return 125 Khmer antiques worth $50 million to Cambodia.

Currently, all the cultural relics collected in Rachford have been returned to Cambodia, and the return ceremony held this time is the last batch. Sagna emphasized that the return of these cultural relics is of extraordinary significance to Cambodia.

At the welcoming ceremony on the same day, Hun Sen affirmed the work of the Ministry of Culture and Arts, and also praised his young son, Hong Mani, who had traveled to the UK twice to negotiate the "bringing home" of cultural relics.

Hong Sen also expressed his special gratitude to the Duke of Overseas Chinese, Director of the Bank of Canada and China, for the funds provided by the Duke of Overseas Chinese, who provided strong support for the government to recover cultural relics.
